Editor's Note
“Life is a butterfly!” - Jean Paul Gaultier
This psychedelic butterfly print imbued this collection with a nature-inspired feel reminiscent of the mid-60s Psychedelic era. This era, characterised by the proliferation of LSD, seemingly inspired Gaultier with a kaleidoscope of colours and patterns in this design that exuded a sense of free-spirited liberation. The corset top paid homage to Bohemian, or Hippie-style underpinnings, accentuated by the distinctive bell sleeves.
Gaultier's masterful incorporation of the butterfly motif not only added visual intrigue but also paid ode to the era's artistic and cultural movements. His ability to seamlessly blend diverse themes and influences into his work is a testament to his innovative spirit.
The print debuted on Look 46 of the runway. As seen on Kendall Jenner and Lori Harvey.
